Unicauca paid posthumous tribute to Former Rector Harold Muñoz Muñoz
Highlighting human values and professional qualities, the University of Cauca said good bye to the Engineer Harold Alberto Muñoz Muñoz, who was rector in the period 1984-1986, as well as a graduate, teacher and dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and a member of the Superior Council.
In the Francisco José de Caldas “Paraninfo”, on Friday, December 11, the posthumous tribute to the Civil Engineer Harold Alberto Muñoz Muñoz, former Rector of the University of Cauca, who died on November 22 in the city of Bogotá, was celebrated.
During the posthumous tribute, the directors and colleagues highlighted in various communications the messages of solidarity and condolence to his family, especially to his brothers, wife and children, highlighting the human values and professional qualities that characterized Engineer Muñoz Muñoz in each of his actions as a manager, teacher, businessman, auditor and lecturer.
Engineer Harold Muñoz Muñoz carried out undergraduate studies at the University of Cauca and postgraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts, the National Autonomous University and the Mexican Institute of Cement and Concrete, academic training that allowed him to stand out in the area of structures in various university and professional spaces in the country and in the world, sharing his knowledge permanently with students and colleagues.
In the reading of communications, those sent by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Colombian Society of Engineers, the Association of Valley Engineers, Professor Enio Pazini Figueiredo, among others, which expressed the contributions that Engineer Muñoz Muñoz leaves in themes of construction and pathology of structures.

The University of Cauca highlighted the commitment and responsibility that it assumed as rector when starting the process of reconstruction of the different university headquarters after the earthquake in Popayán in 1983, leading the processes from its knowledge and experience in one of the areas of civil engineering that the more he was passionate about the structural issue.

Through Rectoral Resolution 629 of 2020, the rectory of the University of Cauca ordered the location of the ashes of Engineer Harold Muñoz Muñoz in the Mausoleum of the Former Rectors, a space that exalts the memory of those who held the position of Rector and contributed to institutional strengthening, complying with the institutional motto: Posteris Lvmen Moritvrus Edat (Who has to die leave his light to posterity).
