Doctorate in Computer Science, new graduate program at Unicauca
The Doctorate in Computer Science obtained the Qualified Registry of the Ministry of National Education and it is planned to open registrations for the I Period of 2021.
The Ministry of National Education through Resolution 014594 of August 6, 2020 granted the Qualified Registry to the graduate program of the University of Cauca, Doctorate in Computer Science to be offered under the face-to-face modality based in Popayán (Cauca).
This was announced in the newsletter “Unicauca al Día” Radio, professor Martha Eliana Mendoza, who led the process to acquire the qualified registration for the new program that joins the postgraduate offer of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications. "It has been a process of several professors from the Systems Department with the support of Dean Francisco José Pino and the different departments in charge of the University whom we thank for their institutional endorsement and support."
The Doctorate in Computer Science is supported by two of the research groups of the Systems Department: GTI Information Technology Research Group and GICO Computational Intelligence, categorized A and C by Colciencias. "We already have experience in high training programs with the Master's Degree in Computing, which has been offered since 2009, and we also have researchers, who are working in different areas, recognized by Colciencias according to the investigative capacities of each one", added the Teacher.
The training areas of the Doctorate in question are quite transversal: intelligent systems, information management, software engineering and development of platforms that have to do with the Internet of Things IoT, and it is expected to open a first cohort for the I Academic Period of 2021. In this way, it joins the postgraduate offer of the University of Cauca that adds 111 academic programs and is currently in enrollment for the II period of 2020.
“In order to obtain the Registry, it is necessary to comply with some guidelines in the curricular part, the objectives of the program, its profile, the impact it will have and other support components, culture and well-being infrastructure, and the Institutional Accreditation of High is very important. Quality that the University of Cauca has for this type of process”, he emphasized.
Professor Martha Eliana Mendoza finally reminded people interested in taking part in the Doctorate in Computer Science that they must be profiles related to the respective areas and be very interested in research. “They must be aware of the admission process, attach the required documents, pay the registration costs, a letter from a professor is required as the applicant's tutor and a research proposal that is socialized along with other topics during the interview in front of the Committee of the Program”, he specified.
