Unicauca promotes technological maturation in research results
The call of the Vice-Rector's Office for Research will finance three projects, worth nine million ninety thousand pesos each, which can go from a TRL3 stage of maturity to a TRL4.
The Office of the Vice President for Research at the University of Cauca is currently making calls to create a bank of eligible projects to support the technological maturation of TRL 4 research results.
This call aims to support research groups so that their results advance in their level of technological maturity, seeking that these results are transferred to society and become innovations promoted by the University of Cauca, thus contributing to peace territorial through the generation of Spin-Off companies, licensing to the industry, knowledge transfer, the offer of high value-added services to society, among other transfer options.
"This first call seeks to see which projects are in TRL4, meaning that their state of maturity has already exceeded the state of documentation, to carry out previous laboratory evaluations and that, in one way or another, they may have their first contacts with the environment, whether within the institution or outside and that they become promising innovations of the University of Cauca and that can be evaluated by different sectors, depending on the area of study. The important thing is to support these investigations so that they can carry out these transfer and technology exercises”, explained the Vice-Rector for Research, Héctor Samuel Villada Castillo.
Through the call, three projects will be financed, worth nine million ninety thousand pesos each, which can go from a TRL3 stage of maturity to a TRL4. “In other words, they have very particular results that can easily be evaluated through a proof of concept within the institution or in the environment, to make adjustments. What is expected is that several projects will be presented, these are sent to an external evaluation process and those three that have the highest score and qualification will be financed”, clarified the Engineer.
The Vice Chancellor reported that the terms of the call are published on the web portal of the University of Cauca where it is described which is the support that each one of them has in terms of activities: documentation, in consultancies of certain talent, purchase of materials, etc. and it is explicit what the support is.
The call began on June 16, 2020 and with the aim of encouraging the participation of researchers, the closing date was extended until August 21 through Addendum No. 2.
Professor Villada invited researchers to register through the SIVRI platform and to remain attentive to the website and social networks of the University of Cauca and the Vice-rector for Research, means by which the university community is informed of this type of initiatives launched by the Vice-rectory in order to support the research groups and researchers of the Alma Mater that seeks and promotes Territorial Peace.
