Colombian Computer Society defines strategies against COVID - 19
The organization chaired by the professor at the University of Cauca, César Alberto Collazos, together with the Network of Human Computer Interaction at the Colombian level, propose proposals such as a Chatbot to accompany the psychological issue in times of quarantine, usability tests on respirators, virtual education for children, among others.
The Colombian Computer Society (SCO2), which is chaired by the professor of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications of the University of Cauca, César Alberto Collazos, together with the Network of Human Computer Interaction at the Colombian level, called CAFETEROS; propose a series of strategies to work on issues related to COVID - 19.
According to Professor Collazos, the first thing the organization proposes is to start disseminating relevant information on the subject through the official SCO2 page and new links have been placed with related information.
“We have begun to define some work proposals such as the development of an affective Chatbot to support involuntary social isolation: People are social beings by nature and need interaction with other people. If these interpersonal relationships stop happening abruptly, it can cause a state of stress or depression. Involuntary isolation can cause a person to feel alone, and sometimes cause an anxiety disorder, "adds Professor César Alberto Collazos.
This way, they integrate two lines of research Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) to develop an intelligent assistant through chatbots that emotionally and mentally supports a person from a psychological approach.
"Most of these chatbots are integrated for a specific purpose, but they do not assess the emotional state of a subject, in such a way that it allows to adapt the type of therapy and the appropriate questions to follow," says the teacher.
Similarly, the Colombian Computer Society proposes strategies such as usability tests, accessibility of respirators that are being designed and implemented, a collaborative and playful model to support virtual education processes for children with cognitive disabilities (during stages of social isolation ) and a massive surveillance and social control system to monitor the possible spread of the pandemic. It has been thought of an RFID-type technology implanted in the body, or a device based on open architecture, that through a unique and universal ID identifies each individual.
Professor César Alberto Collazos is Coordinator of the IDIS Software Engineering Research and Development Group and was elected as president of the Colombian Computer Society for a period of two years, the decision was made by the Board of Directors of that organization in virtual session from March 17 of the current year.
The Colombian Computer Society (SCo2) is a group of academics, researchers and professionals from all over Colombia whose objective is to promote and help articulate the development of research and innovation in the field of computer science and informatics. It aims to be a meeting space and to promote the development of scientific events that are beneficial for the entire society. SCo2 can belong to both institutions (universities and research centers) and individuals.
