Unicauca’s research group held the 6th Regional Seminar on Number Theory

La Universidad -

ALTENUA (Algebra Theory of Numbers and Applications) in association with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation organized the sixth version of the Regional Seminar on Theory of Numbers.

With the aim of publicizing the research projects and activities carried out through the ALTENUA Research Group and proposing undergraduate and postgraduate work topics, in addition to establishing working ties at national and international level, The Sixth Regional Seminar on Theory of Numbers was held at the Faculty of Natural, Exact and Educational Sciences of the University of Cauca.

According to Carlos Alberto Trujillo, coordinator of the Doctorate of Mathematical Sciences, the seminar was funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation through the project 'Applications to information theory and application to sidon sets and their generalizations.'

“It is a commitment to the institutions that support us financially. It is done every year to captivate students who are interested in collaborating in the development of the project itself, and it is successful in that regard, as it is highly relevant in today's technological development world, ”he added.

During the day, three workshops, contributed papers and a meeting of members of the ALTENUA group were held, in addition to a discussion in the framework of the celebration of International Day of Mathematics. "Today Mathematics is revolutionizing the world and in this celebration we want to show that Mathematics is indeed everywhere," emphasized Professor Carlos Alberto Trujillo.

The mathematical foundation is central since the area and its professionals largely permeate the activities of society such as communications, financial entities and programming entities, hence the relevance of working in research and developments based on this area of knowledge.

Professor Trujillo concluded that the University of Cauca is booming in its mathematical development, so these types of events are important for students to show that what they do has value and to know what other people are doing and are up-to-date problems that Mathematics helps to solve.
