Teacher César Alberto Collazos is the new president of the Colombian Computer Society

The professor attached to the Department of Systems of the University of Cauca was appointed for a period of two years to direct the destinies of this organization that encourages the development of research and innovation in the field of computer science and informatics.

 

César Alberto Collazos, professor at the Systems Department of the Faculty of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering at the Universidad del Cauca and Coordinator of the IDIS Software Engineering Research and Development Group, is the new president of the Colombian Computer Society. The decision was made at the virtual meeting held on March 17, where the Board of Directors of this organization appointed the professor from the University of Cauca for a period of two years.

 

“The Colombian Computer Society (SCo2) is a group of academics, researchers and professionals from all over Colombia whose objective is to promote and help articulate the development of research and innovation in the field of computer science and information. It aims to be a meeting space and to promote the development of scientific events that are beneficial for the entire society. Both institutions (universities and research centers) and individuals can belong to SCo2,”he said.

 

The teacher expressed his satisfaction with this vote of confidence and has the challenge of strengthening the presence of the Colombian Computer Society in all regions of the country, as well as establishing collaborative links with entities such as the Colombian Association of ACIS Systems Engineers; Colombian Federation of the Software Industry FEDESOFT; Colombian Association of Engineering Faculties ACOFI; CLEI Latin American Computer Center, among others.

 

The Colombian Computer Society began operating in 2005, and is the entity that annually endorses the organization of the Colombian Computer Congress, which this year will be held in Pereira and which took place a few years ago in the city of Popayán. This Society encourages research in computing issues and related areas and for this purpose, within its statutes is the formation of specialized scientific chapters in various areas of Computing.

 

On the Board of Directors, in addition to Professor Collazos, researchers from Los Andes University, “Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira”, “Pontificia Universidad Javeriana”, “Universidad de Medellín”, “Universidad del Quindío”, “Universidad Nacional Abierta y Distancia”, “Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga”, “Universidad EAN”, “Universidad EAFIT”, and “Salazar y Herrera” University Institution.
