Positive Results Left After Freshmen Welcome
A week full of sports, recreational, cultural and academic activities concluded this Friday, July 28th at the University of Cauca. The 1400 students who entered different programs of the institution participated in the spaces that were part of the welcoming agenda for the second academic period of 2017.
"As for the balance of the welcome days, it was a great success both, student participation and the parent participation," said the Vice-President of Culture and Welfare, Deibar René Hurtado Herrera.
He also pointed out, "we began to recover the kinds of cultural activities that call students to include a cultural and sports experience so that they are motivated and integrated into the cultural activities that we have".
After sending a message inviting the students to live this period of education with dedication, discipline and commitment, the Vice-President of Culture and Welfare urged the new Unicaucans and the student community in general to be part of all the activities that are being structured from the Culture and Welfare presidency, which at the same time uses the services of the Vice-President, the Institution's settings, and integrate into the cultural, recreational life that will be carried out in an joined manner with the city, as in the case of the Museum Night, organized by The Municipal Administration.
"Training is much more than academic, it involves training in other aspects other than what is supposed to be offered by the University which is integrated into an academic program. To be an university implies to explore all the dimensions of the human being and at the same time to become socially aware and to commit ethically," said Dr. Hurtado Herrera.
Noted, among the calls of the Vice-President of Culture and Welfare are the inscriptions to join the Volunteers of Social Service University program, in the second period of 2017, which closes on August 4th.
The Volunteer of Social Service University program is an activity that allows a training process for students in both technical, social and political fields that are articulated with the concepts that are described of the education in the mission of the University of Cauca, who mentions it from the integral formation and in the university vision, the idea of betting institutionally to the formation of an integral, ethical and solidary human being stands out.
