Freshmen Students Parents Attended UNICAUCA
Monday, July 24th, at the University Sports Center of Tulcán, a day led by the Vice-Presidency of Culture and Welfare, discussed the program 'School of parents - The Young University and its Family', in which related the importance of parent involvement in the university educational process initiated by the 1400 new students of the University of Cauca.
"We believe it is very important that in this training process parents get involved, because this accompaniment ensures that students have family support not only in the academic subject but in other topics such as prevention of Psychoactive substances consumption, and the resolution of problems they may have," said Deibar René Hurtado Herrera, vice-president of Culture and Welfare.
He also invited students to appreciate the fact that their parents are aware of their experiences at the University, while highlighting their families’ interest to not dissociate themselves from the stage that their children begin.
"I believe that parents should be aware of the academic performance of their children and the situations that happen to them; The parents can come and speak with the coordinators, be accompanied by the professionals we have in the different units of the University," said Professor Hurtado Herrera.
Gerardo Solis Rengifo, Jhoan Felipe Solis Hurtado's father, who is the student with the best score in the admission’s test, celebrated that the Alma Mater open space to places like the advance with the more than 800 parents who attended the activity.
According to Solis Rengifo, "this space is a very good thing, in our case we came from a school like 'Don Bosco' where there were constant meetings, and that this is very important for young people to continue to cultivate values and Perform in the best way, so that they are excellent as citizens and as professionals. "
The activity with the parents was complemented by a storytelling show and with a musical performance of an outstanding local group.
