The UNICAUCA president met with victims and perpetrators of the armed conflict that are part of UNICAUCA’S special law cohort.
This group is made up of active and retired members of the Police, demobilized individuals from the FARC EP and the AUC, colombian conflict victims, indigenous individuals and social leaders from different communities across the Cauca state.from different communities across the Cauca state.
Students from the special cohort, Law and Reconcialiation Promotion of Program that attended the program's first semester, met with the president of the University of Cauca, José Luis Diago Franco, with the purpose of presenting this academic program's initiative that seeks to be a national example of reconciliation in Colombia after overcoming the armed conflict. The president praised that in such a space, an academic coexistence is possible of members from different groups who participated in the country’s armed conflict by individuals who seek personal improvement through higher education, providing an example of peace much needed by the country.
The special cohort of law consists of 56 people; 27 whom are members of the National Police and 29 members of the community, who have somehow been involved in the armed conflict in the Cauca region.
