The ministry of culture recognizes the work that Unicauca is doing for the preservation of cultural heritage.
The institution meets all museum-established parameters and rules governing the cultural heritage of the nation.
Feris Gustavo Perdomo, head of the Division of Culture and Heritage, said the award is given in the framework of policies for the social appropriation of cultural heritage university seeking comprehensive preservation of heritage collections and their three institutional museums.
"We develop continuous improvement actions so that museums are places of learning, research and enjoyment of the community. we have the support of Volunteer Social Service University where students are guides after an induction and training, "he said.
The Alma Mater assumes the maintenance and administration according to contemporary museological and museum settings, governed by national and international standards in the Natural History Museum, the Museo Casa Mosquera and the Pantheon of Heroes.
They are home to one of the most comprehensive collections of fauna and flora in Latin America and a great ceramic sculpture collection from the of pre-Columbian cultures of the southwest, as well as objects and art pieces that belonged to the four times President, General Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera and the urns with the remains of some heroes, martyrs and historical figures of the country.
"We are committed to preserve and maintain the best conditions exhibited cultural heritage that is good not only for the university but also for all citizens of this country," said Ferris Perdomo.
The 'Strengthening of museums of the Ministry of Culture' program was created as a forum for the implementation of the National Museums Policy, and as a catalytic unit processes the museum community demand from the challenges posed by the development of museums today.
