La Universidad -

The Dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences, José Fernando Grass Ramírez said that the agreement between the two organizations strengthens the integration of academia and the productive sector and promotes the use of bio-fertilizers to improve dairy production in the department.

"The investigation shows the potential for Cauca to be a more competitive department since the production process is more cost-effective helping with the high cost and dependence generated by chemical fertilizers", said Mr. Grass.

Eduardo Diaz Uribe, executive director of the Alpine Foundation, said that the publication includes four years of experience in which our Alma Mater, our milk producers and Guachicono, a Cauca indigenous reserve from the town of La Vega participated.

"During all that time, there were may experiments with bio-fertilizers to improve productivity and reduce production costs, considering environmental sustainability and conservation of grasslands of Cauca " he added.

Professors, who were part of the investigation, said that this alternative overcomes the traditional processes and it is an example of how you can promote the relationship between the academia and the productive sector.

The results of the project, which was implemented in several stages, indicate a 50% reduction in fertilization cost per acre.
