Law Students will participate in international events

The students will be at the International Criminal Court and the American University College of Law.

Jennifer Valencia, Robert Duenas, Diego Manzano, Maicol Andrés Rodríguez , José Reynel Cristancho Diaz and William Orozco Erazo will represent the Alma Mater at competitions on Human Rights.

Maicol Andrés Rodríguez ,  who is in his last semester at the school of Law, said that they had to complete a variety of written and oral assessments during the selection processin front of  Judges, participants from last year competition and Jesus Alberto Gomez Gomez, who is Judge of the Superior Court of Popayan and Law school professor at Unicauca.

The event starts on May 30 and will run for two weeks at the Ibero-American Institute for Peace, Human Rights and International Justice of The Hague.

"We are currently preparing the written part of the competition consisting of memorials of victims, State and Prosecutor, as well as training to defend the arguments orally before the judges of the International Criminal Court," said the student.

Professor Maria Fernanda Figueroa leads the process to participate on the Competition on Human Rights organized by the American University College of Law through her Research Group, which is based on the teaching of the elective in Human Rights of the school of law.  The University of Cauca has participated as the only Public Institution of Higher Education for 12 years.

William Orozco Erazo said that the theme of the competition this year is related to the rights of persons with disabilities,  to ensure their rights without discrimination of this population group in our society.

The six students will conduct a presentation at the conferences held on February 20 at the Auditorium Francisco José de Caldas in the framework of the celebration of the 156 years of the Superior Court of the District of Popayán.
