186 years of the University of Cauca
In commemorating its 186th anniversary, the University of Cauca has officially presented to the media a programme that contains academic and cultural events, exhibitions and concerts that will be held at the University.
During this activity, the rector of the Universidad del Cauca, Dr. Juan Diego Castrillon Orrego, expressed the importance of this date for the institution founded by the Liberator Simon Bolivar and Francisco de Paula Santander, with some challenges to be met in each of institutional stages.
"Today we have a dynamic university that is reflected in this schedule built with the direct involvement of each of the university bodies in the framework of respect, commitment, and regional and national leadership," said the rector.
Similarly, the Vice President of Culture and Welfare, Ms. Paloma Muñoz Ñáñez, said the program includes several events with free admission that are directed to different sectors of the society.
"We have academic events such as the Business Expo, the General Discussion of High Justice Corporations, concerts, the play “La viuda Alegre” (The Merry Widow), book presentations, events of general interest, to which everyone can attend and participate with the celebration of the 186 years of our university, "said Ms. Muñoz .
She added that to design the image of the program for this year, it was taken into account the Institutional Accreditation obtained by the university this year. So that, it contains the medal and the gold color.
The formal events of the 186 years of the University of Cauca will be held on Thursday, November 14 at 4 pm, with offerings to the founders, recognition and awards to outstanding college students, a thanksgiving Mass and a cocktail event to be held in Cloister of Santo Domingo.
The university managers express their appreciation to the agencies that were associated with the realization of events and invite the community in general to participate in each of them.
