The University of Cauca will host Colombia 4.0, the most important event on technology and digital creative industries in the country

La Universidad -

The University of Cauca has been chosen as the regional venue for Colombia 4.0, the most important event on technology, innovation, and digital creativity in the country. Thus, in its 15th edition, this gathering, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MinTIC) and supported by regional governments, city halls, and higher education institutions, among others, will have the Alma Mater of Cauca as its epicenter on August 27 and 28, consolidating it as a strategic stage for the digital development of southwestern Colombia.

This nationally renowned event will be a unique opportunity for students, professors, entrepreneurs, and the broader community to connect with the latest trends in technology, strengthen ties with key players in the sector, and explore new opportunities to grow in the creative and digital industries. For the University of Cauca, hosting Colombia 4.0 is a firm step in consolidating its commitment to academic excellence and technological transformation, a milestone that also strengthens the implementation of its Institutional Development Plan “For a University of Excellence and Solidarity.” In particular, it advances the fifth strategic axis, which promotes the modernization of administrative and functional processes, as well as technological innovation.

In this way, Colombia 4.0 arrives this year at the University of Cauca as a space for learning, inspiration, and growth not only for the entire university community but also for society at large. Therefore, we extend an invitation to students, entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives, and anyone interested in digital and creative industries to actively participate in this free event, which will offer lectures, workshops, experience showcases, and networking spaces with national and international experts. It will be an unmissable opportunity to connect with global technology trends, strengthen skills, and open new doors to the digital development of our region.

“Through a coordinated effort between the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research, the Division of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Engagement with the Environment (DAE), the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, the Occupational Health area, and the Security, Control and Mobility area, and with the DAE serving as the bridge between academia and government, we are showing that our University has the capacity not only to host an event of this magnitude but also to integrate it into the regional innovation ecosystem of our department, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and leadership in the technological field at the national level,” said a visibly moved Yady Gómez, Head of the DAE.

Indeed, the growing reputation of our institution in the technology sector is reinforced by the quality of the professionals we train, talents that shine in global competitions such as the Huawei ICT Competition, reminding us that education is the path forward. For Alejandro Toledo, Dean of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, hosting such a high-standard event is a strong endorsement of the educational work carried out with commitment from the regions. On the news of being chosen as the Cauca venue, he stated: “For the first time, Colombia 4.0 is coming to the regions, because digital talent is not only in the big cities, it’s here in Cauca, in our people, in our ideas. We will have incredible conferences, workshops, business showcases, networking spaces, and best of all: opportunities for local talent to shine and connect with the digital world.”

Without a doubt, this joint effort reaffirms the University of Cauca’s commitment as an open-door institution where knowledge is shared and innovation is lived. As an institution that is #PatrimonioDeTodos, and which on this occasion will host one of the country’s most important events in the technology and creative sector, we are more than pleased to welcome both locals and visitors. For two days, our Alma Mater will become the epicenter of digital talent, hosting Colombia 4.0, a platform that, over 15 editions, has brought together the most prominent figures in the industry, consolidating networks of learning, collaboration, and growth for southwestern Colombia.
