Amidst its demanding and challenging journey, the University of Cauca moves forward with steady steps after receiving a positive evaluation from the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification (ICONTEC) during the external follow-up audit conducted between March 25 and 28, 2025. This crucial phase of the journey confirmed the continuation of the ISO 9001:2015 Certification, thanks to the conformity of the Integrated Management System (SIG) with the established normative criteria.

In this exciting adventure we are embarking on towards institutional reaccreditation, the external follow-up audit conducted by ICONTEC, held in person between March 25 and 28, 2025, assessed compliance with the regulatory requirements of the Integrated Management System (SIG) under the ISO 9001:2015 standard in each of the academic and administrative processes at the University of Cauca. The report highlighted the maturity of the management system, demonstrating the commitment of the human team to quality and adherence to the standard, which allows for the continuation of the ISO 9001:2015 Certification—great news for this educational institution!

Undoubtedly, this is an achievement that also constitutes another step in our journey toward institutional reaccreditation, a journey that will reach its destination in 2027. The overall result of this audit is a clear example of the commitment of every Unicaucano who has joined the accreditation process to advance together in strengthening the academic and administrative aspects of our university.

Thus, the follow-up visit by ICONTEC marks a milestone in this journey, promoting a culture of excellence focused on meeting the needs of students, professors, administrative staff, and other stakeholders through the cycle of planning, doing, checking, and adjusting.

“This visit is key because it allows us to demonstrate that we are providing a public education service of quality that meets the highest standards in terms of management. This contributes to showing that the alignment between certification and accreditation is crucial and consolidates as a process that steers us toward our goal of institutional reaccreditation in 2027,” said Dr. Alexander Buendía, director of the Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation Center, highlighting the importance of this audit as part of the reaccreditation process.

In this way, the University of Cauca will continue working on risk identification, strengthening follow-up and measurement activities, and implementing actions related to climate change, thus consolidating its leadership in higher education and ensuring excellence in all its processes (both academic and administrative).
