Factory of Opportunities and Ayté Lecture: A Model of Social Projection with a Future Vision
The University of Cauca, in collaboration with the company Ayté, has developed two social responsibility and outreach initiatives aimed at training young people in technical skills.
As part of the activities led by the Telematics Department, affiliated with the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications at the University of Cauca, in partnership with Ayté, certificates were awarded to students who completed the Factory of Opportunities course.

The Factory of Opportunities program stands out as an exceptional example of social responsibility and outreach for both Ayté and the University of Cauca. It is designed for young individuals who lack access to technical or professional higher education. By investing in the future of each student, the program prepares them to contribute significantly to society and the national economy while also providing them with opportunities to enter the job market. Participants not only acquire technical skills but also develop a vision for improving their future.

In its second edition, the program was supported by the University of Cauca's Telematics Department, which designed a seven-month course that combined theory and practice. The curriculum covered topics ranging from basic system concepts to advanced software development skills. Participants received strong academic training, complemented by hands-on experience working on real projects.
This year, six students successfully completed the course: María del Mar Troyano, Eider Urrego, Yineth Rivera, Sebastián Quinayás, Nicol Tapasco, and Cristian Yalanda, all from the Cauca region. These students achieved the level of Junior Developers within the organization.

The closing event, held in December 2024, was attended by Aida Patricia Gonzáles, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Alejandro Toledo Tovar, Dean of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications; and Andrés Lara Silva, Head of the Telematics Department. Also present were Nicolás Cerón Orozco, Ayté’s Technical Manager, and César Ocampo Fletcher, Ayté’s Business Development Manager.
The instructors for the program were Rafael Belalcázar, Andrés Bravo, and Edinson Chilito, all of whom are graduate students in the Master's and Doctoral programs in Telematics Engineering.
In addition to the Factory of Opportunities, Ayté also collaborated with the Telematics Department in 2024 to implement the Ayté Chair. More than just an elective course, this initiative offers students the chance to explore serverless application development using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The course is specifically designed for students who have completed at least 75% of the credits in the Telematics Technology program, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn directly from Ayté professionals.

This educational experience blends theory and hands-on practice, preparing students not only to tackle modern technological challenges but also to obtain professional AWS certifications. Participants in the first cohort engaged in real-world scenarios, gaining insight into the challenges of the job market. The Ayté Chair represents a revolutionary approach to interacting with technology and the business world, ensuring that students graduate with not just knowledge, but also experience and vision.
The Ayté Chair and Factory of Opportunities serve as gateways to new possibilities, enabling University of Cauca students to expand their technical knowledge and build a strong bridge toward a promising and socially responsible professional future.
