Connecting Knowledge: The University of Cauca Celebrated the II International Finance and Management Meeting, EIFG2024
The event, held at the Faculty of Accounting, Economics, and Administrative Sciences, brought together a series of national and international experts to discuss sustainability, finance, and management.
"The Dilemma of the Unsustainable" was the slogan of the II International Finance and Management Meeting, EIFG2024, held at the Faculty of Accounting, Economics, and Administrative Sciences at the University of Cauca on November 7 and 8, 2024. This impactful event was organized by the Study and Research Group in Finance and Management (GREIFG), registered in the same faculty, in partnership with the Ibero-American Association of Control and Management Accounting (AICOGestión).
The meeting, held in celebration of the 57th anniversary of the Public Accounting program at our Alma Mater, addressed key topics such as public management issues and its relation to sustainability, incentives for creativity and innovation and their link to sustainability in businesses, carbon bonds and their connection to management control, and data analytics in relation to finance and management regarding sustainability.
During the two-day event, four conferences were held, presented by Jeimi Maribel León Silva and Héctor Fabio Perafán Peña, both professors at the Externado University of Colombia; Jorge Andrés Salgado Castillo from the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada; and Norma Pontet Ubal from the ORT University of Uruguay.
"This is an activity connected to research training; students have the opportunity to identify the current trends in disciplinary or fundamental areas for the Public Accounting career, such as finance and management. It also helps them understand what is being worked on in other universities and the topics being addressed today, which are essential for both academic and professional practice," said Professor Zoraida Ramírez Gutiérrez, one of the event organizers.
In this way, we highlight the commitment of the Public Accounting program at the University of Cauca to foster dialogue and reflection on current topics.
This interest strengthens the role of our Alma Mater as a higher education institution that prepares its faculty and students to face present trends and leverage them for the benefit of the university, regional education, and the development of the country.
