The Physical Therapy Program conducts academic mobility exercises in Medellín and Bucaramanga
From November 5 to 8, the students visited CES University and the Industrial University of Santander as part of a learning and updating agenda in specialized fields of Physical Therapy.
Professor Luis Alexander Peña López, faculty member of the Physical Therapy Program at the University of Cauca, assigned to the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy and Critical Care axis, has recently led two academic mobility exercises for students in the X semester of the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy elective and the cardiopulmonary physical therapy practicum.
These activities, carried out in collaboration with different Higher Education Institutions, offer a unique opportunity for learning and updating in specialized fields of physical therapy.
In this context, on November 5 and 6, the Physical Therapy students from the University of Cauca traveled to CES University in Medellín, where they participated in an academic exchange with students from this institution. During the visit, they attended training sessions on key topics such as heart-lung interaction, non-invasive mechanical ventilation, and artificial airway management.
These activities, led by Professor Peña López, allowed students to reinforce their knowledge through hands-on workshops and direct interaction with students from another renowned university in the health field.
On November 7 and 8, the students from the cardiopulmonary physical therapy practicum had the opportunity to participate in another academic mobility exercise, this time at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) in Bucaramanga. With the goal of strengthening their competencies in critical patient care, the students attended workshops on lung ultrasound, exercise prescription for critically ill patients, and mechanical ventilation. In these sessions, faculty from the University of Cauca and UIS shared their knowledge and experiences.
These experiences enrich the academic training of the students, allowing them to engage with the latest practices and strengthening their ability to apply evidence-based interventions.
The University of Cauca remains committed to excellence in the education of its students, providing learning opportunities that prepare them to face the challenges of cardiopulmonary physical therapy and critical care in the professional field.
