Great representation of the Alma Mater in European lands: this is how the enriching academic stay at the Complutense University of Madrid was experienced
Professor Isabel Muñoz Zambrano from the Speech Therapy Program spent a four-day academic stay at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) to present her research contributions in the field of Logopedics
Between October 7th and 11th, 2024, the Complutense University of Madrid warmly welcomed Professor Isabel Muñoz Zambrano, a faculty member of our Speech Therapy Program. Her visit took place as part of an academic stay in the field of Logopedics, an area defined by the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) as the study and treatment of speech and language disorders.
The purpose of this visit was to advance a research project registered with the Vice Rectorate for Research (VRI) at our Alma Mater, fostering collaborative work between both universities.
'I presented research findings, taught classes for master's students in Logopedics, and gave a lecture to speech therapists at the university's clinic. Additionally, I met with the Office of Inter-institutional and International Relations (ORII) at the University of Cauca to advance the framework cooperation agreement with our Speech Therapy program,' explained Professor Isabel, who described the experience as 'highly productive and greatly beneficial for the visibility of our Speech Therapy program"
It is worth highlighting that Professor Isabel is a Speech Therapist with postgraduate degrees in health projects and epidemiology, and she has extensive experience in research processes.
Currently, she coordinates the Research Improvement Committee of the Speech Therapy program and is a member of the Research Committee of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
As if that weren’t enough, she also leads the ‘Communication, Health, and Social Development’ Research Group within the same program, which is categorized by Colciencias. She has published books and articles in indexed journals on epidemiology applied to speech therapy, which is fantastic!
In this regard, the University of Cauca is proud to see its professors shine in international settings, where their contributions and knowledge help enrich the exchange of ideas and strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between our institution and other higher education institutions globally.
