‘Zonal Meetings ‘Scientific Vocations for Life 2024’: Young researchers from Cauca share their projects and progress.

Between October 23 and 25, 2024, the Zonal Meetings 'Scientific Vocations for Life 2024' were held in the municipalities of Silvia, Popayán, and Morales, organized by the ONDAS Cauca program. During these meetings, young people from various educational institutions in the department participated enthusiastically, presenting the progress of their research projects.

Over these three days of scientific exchange, each group presented their achievements, learnings, and challenges on research topics ranging from environmental conservation to technological innovation applied to their local contexts.

This space was characterized as an inclusive and collaborative platform that promoted creativity and critical reflection, demonstrating that science is a path of shared and enriching growth.

Although 21 groups were selected to represent their communities at the upcoming Departmental Meeting, there are no losing groups in this experience.

Each participant has been a key part of this scientific journey, contributing ideas and sharing their vision to strengthen the research culture in the region.

These activities reinforce the commitment of the ONDAS program and the University of Cauca to the training of new generations in the field of scientific research, enhancing local capacities and empowering youth to face the challenges of their environment.

The ONDAS program is an initiative that promotes the interest in research among Colombian girls, boys, and adolescents, with a special focus on gender, ethnicity, and territory. It makes science a life choice that contributes to the development of their communities. In Cauca, the University of Cauca is responsible for its implementation, thus supporting its role in building the region through education.
