Almaguer Ciudad Libro 2024: A Literary Journey

La Universidad -

Cauca Territorio Libro continues to make its mark across the Cauca region. Almaguer Ciudad Libro has come to a close, leaving behind thousands of stories yet to be told, valuable lessons, and a renewed love for literature, reading, and culture.

On September 5th and 6th, residents and visitors of this beautiful municipality located in the southeastern part of the department had the chance to immerse themselves in a world where literature took center stage.

From creative writing workshops to public readings and musical performances, "Almaguer Ciudad Libro" offered a diverse program aimed not only at entertaining but also at educating and inspiring.

The significance of this project within the Cauca Territorio Libro framework lies in highlighting literature and art as tools for social and personal change.

The impact of Almaguer Ciudad Libro was felt in every conversation enriched by new ideas, in every child who discovered the joy of reading, and in every adult who rediscovered the transformative power of words on the pages of a book. This event, led by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Culture and Well-being of the University of Cauca, has invited over 500 hearts to come closer to literature.

As we close this chapter, we carry with us the certainty that literature is a bridge between worlds and realities, an inexhaustible source of empathy, and a light that illuminates the path toward a more hopeful future. Almaguer Ciudad Libro has been more than just an event; it has been a space that reaffirms the importance of bringing literature to the territories, not only as an artistic expression but as a fundamental right for the growth and development of the community.

We thank all the participants, organizers, sponsors, and attendees who made this literary journey possible. With a promise to continue this noble mission, we say goodbye until the next edition, where the pages of Almaguer Ciudad Libro may once again be written with stories that we must continue to tell. The objectives were met with 44 activities (32 workshops and 12 discussions) involving 30 people who traveled from the city of Popayán.
