We are ready for the first edition of Almaguer City of Books
The first edition of Almaguer City of Books will bring together those who, through various artistic and cultural expressions, create stories that keep conversations, ideas, and transformations alive in the department of Cauca and southwestern Colombia.
Since 2018, the Vice-Rector's Office for Culture and Well-being at the University of Cauca has led projects aimed at strengthening artistic, literary, and writing processes in the region. This effort to bring these processes to more areas of the department now reaches Almaguer, a municipality with great cultural and natural diversity. Approximately 40 academic and cultural activities will be held there, featuring over 20 guests, including notable national figures such as José Navia Lame, a journalist from Popayán. Additionally, the presence of speakers such as singer-songwriter Jesús Cerón, poet Rúrico Pino, and writer Juan Carlos Pino, all distinguished residents of Almaguer, will be highlighted.
Schedule
From September 5 to 6, the Santa Clara Normal School and other locations in the municipality will serve as venues for gatherings focused on memory, the body, and territory—key themes that underpin the stories, how they circulate, and the communities that are central to them.
These four days will be an opportunity to think and build networks, through a program rich with voices to inspire, challenge, and continue fostering social and cultural changes through art and literature.
