Graduate Specialization in Gynecology and Obstetrics
The University of Cauca developed the program through the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. The University has different teaching and service agreements with various centers around the city, which are used to practice rotations.
The Specialization in Gynecology and Obstetrics is a branch of medicine recognized worldwide that responds to the needs of morbidity and mortality in pregnant women and reproductive age and postmenopausal women.
It covers various aspects of women's health such as sexual and reproductive health, family planning, early detection of cervical and other gynecologic cancers, breast feeding, high risk pregnancy, adolescent health, sexually transmitted diseases, problems of menopause and post menopause, etc.
The health situation in the southwestern Colombia requires the training of new physicians specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology to meet the health needs of these population groups that affect women in different stages of life regardless of race, creed, or socioeconomic status.
It covers different fields of action of the women's health, such as:
Sexual and reproductive health.
Family Planning.
Early detection of cervical cancer and other gynecological cancers.
Breastfeeding.
High-risk pregnancy.
Health teenager.
Sexually transmitted diseases
Problems of menopause and post-menopause, among others.
Degree: Specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics.

Modality: The classes are held in a classroom setting.
