Universidad del Cauca Promotes Public Agricultural Extension Service
Thanks to the efforts made by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Universidad del Cauca is now authorized as an Agricultural Extension Service Provider Entity (EPSEA) by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, through Resolution 317 of 2024, has authorized Universidad del Cauca as an Agricultural Extension Service Provider Entity (EPSEA). This aims to manage knowledge, exchange experiences, build individual, collective, and social capacities, and strengthen rural development processes integrated into the National and Institutional Development Plans.
According to Claudia Lucia Parra Arboleda, an official from the Accreditation and Quality Office in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the goal is also to link the productive sector, the academic sector, research, social appropriation of knowledge, and to strengthen the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors in the Department of Cauca and nationwide.
“The EPSEA-Unicauca also allows for comprehensive support to producers, including diagnosing, recommending, updating, training, transferring knowledge, recognizing ancestral practices, and generating new competencies within the framework of science, technology, and innovation,” she added.
The purpose of an Agricultural Extension Service Provider Entity (EPSEA) is to provide the public agricultural extension service to manage the development of agricultural producers' capacities, as well as to provide access to knowledge and new technologies that contribute to the sustainability of their production.
