La Universidad -

With a wide range of undergraduate programs in Popayán and Santander de Quilichao, the University of Cauca begins its admission process for the second semester of 2024. The process starts on May 6 and will continue until June 21. At our Alma Mater, we dream that young people will transform their lives by becoming part of this institution, which is #Everyone'sHeritage.

The University of Cauca, nearing its 200th anniversary of institutional and academic life, was recognized in 2013 by the Ministry of National Education with the High-Quality Accreditation, which was renewed in 2019 for a period of 8 years. Currently, it is undergoing a self-evaluation process aiming to achieve institutional reaccreditation in 2027 for another 10 years. This distinctive seal positions Alma Mater Caucana as one of the leading higher education institutions in Colombia, particularly highlighting its firm commitment to professional training in the territories and a deep understanding of the challenges in its context.

Therefore, in this institution that is everyone’s heritage, we dream that you will become a Unicaucan@. We invite you to review Academic Agreement 010 of 2024, which establishes the key dates for the admission process. The process begins on May 6 and will extend until June 21 for undergraduate programs at the Popayán and Santander de Quilichao campuses. Interested? Remember that to participate in this admission process, you must have the results of the ICFES Saber 11 tests. Once the registration step is completed, the reception and review of the necessary documents for academic enrollment will take place during June and July, a fundamental step before the first list of admitted students is published on June 28. Join us and be part of this university of excellence and solidarity!

What programs are available and what are the quotas for each one?

You can find the answer very easily: in Academic Agreement 011 of 2024, you can check in detail the undergraduate programs and the number of slots offered for Popayán. Similarly, in Academic Agreement 013 of 2024, you can review the programs and quotas offered by the University of Cauca at its Santander de Quilichao campus, including Agroindustrial Engineering, Law (daytime and evening sessions), Civil Engineering, and the Bachelor's Degree in Modern Languages with an emphasis in English and French. We also want to remind you that the weighting percentages for each academic program can be detailed in Academic Agreement 014 of 2024.

It is important to mention that this institution has defined a series of special cases to facilitate access to higher education. These measures include applicants from regions without higher education institutions, such as residents of the islands of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina, Afro-descendant populations from the Cauca Pacific coast, indigenous communities in Cauca, and inhabitants of marginalized areas in this region. More recently, it also includes people affected by the armed conflict in Cauca. Therefore, young people who fall within these special cases and dream of pursuing their undergraduate studies with us can find the necessary procedures and forms at the following link. (enlace.)

Does Unicauca apply the "Puedo Estudiar" Free Education Policy?

It is important to highlight that the National Government, through the Ministry of National Education (MEN), regulated the Free Education Policy for undergraduate programs through Decree 1667 of 2021. This decree includes the Operational Regulations outlining the requirements to access this benefit. Therefore, young people who believe they meet the established requirements can carefully review the related information. Keep in mind that while our University is one of the institutions covered by this policy, the implementation of this benefit is not managed by our Alma Mater, as it depends directly on the MEN.

Are there still specific tests for any program?

Yes, there is one particular program that requires an additional process. Specifically, those interested in the Fine Arts program must take specific tests designed to assess their aptitudes, capabilities, and skills in activities related to the program. Details are provided here. (aquí.)

Thus, this institution welcomes you with open arms to pursue your professional project. We firmly believe that through higher education, we can transform the lives of students, their families, and their surroundings, as well as contribute to building a more just society and advancing the country’s development.
