At FilBo 2024, Discover Literary Gems at the Stand of the University of Cauca Editorial

La Universidad -

Since April 17, the 2024 edition of the Bogotá International Book Fair (FilBo) has begun, opening new pages and starting a new chapter with the participation of thousands of people from all corners. This year marks its 36th edition and will continue at the main fairgrounds in the Colombian capital until May 2. Once again, the Editorial of the University of Cauca is proud to be present at FilBo, one of the region's most prominent cultural events.

Located in the Universities Pavilion, on the second floor, stand 122, our UC Editorial is waiting to take you on a unique journey through our extensive catalog of publications. Understanding the significance of this venue, which continues to be one of the most strategic events in the industry year after year, we have been preparing for a long time to showcase the best of our production at such representative events.

In its 36th edition, the Bogotá International Book Fair (FilBo) 2024, held from April 17 to May 2 in the Colombian capital, under the theme ‘Reading Nature,’ with Brazil as the guest of honor, aims to raise awareness about the relationship between nature and humanity. The abrupt climate changes we experience in our regions call for us to rethink this relationship. Therefore, in this version of FilBo 2024, we are invited to reflect on literature, culture, and nature—areas that have inspired a large number of literary works by Brazilian writers, poets, and storytellers. These works, inspired by landscapes like the Amazon, which is shared by both countries, encourage the possibility of imagining a culture where life and art flourish to enable harmony among all living beings.

Thus, during FilBo 2024, the Editorial of the Universidad del Cauca presents a wide selection of its most recent publications, covering various fields of knowledge, from humanities to exact sciences. Visitors will have the opportunity to get to know Unicauca's editorial production up close and purchase copies at special prices. Among the highlighted titles are ‘Cosas Vistas’ by Felipe García Quintero, ‘Desde las azoteas, recetario cultural: reencuentro con la culinaria afrocolombiana en Guapi, Colombia’ by various authors, ‘Guías para estudiar el aparato locomotor en el anfiteatro’ by Martín Alonso Ruiz Orozco, ‘Aplicación del enfoque de género en el proceso penal colombiano’ by Nilsa Eugenia Fajardo Hoyos, ‘La cadena productiva de la panela en Cajibío: Una mirada desde Asocamp’ by Luis Miguel Flor Campo, and ‘La marca de haber ardido’ by Pablo Alejandro Muñoz, among other must-read titles that are definitely worth discovering.

Juan Carlos Pino Correa, General Editor of Publications at the Editorial Seal of the Universidad del Cauca, highlighted the participation in this important fair, noting that the Editorial Seal is part of the Conversa Network, a network of university publishers that this year is organizing the FilBo Debates, a series of six discussions on relevant topics that complement the main theme of FilBo. Professor Juan Carlos also emphasized that "It is essential to participate in this cultural event to reach a broader audience with all our titles, as well as to engage in business rounds to establish contact with other publishers and rights buyers. Additionally, the editorial team will be present throughout the fair to interact with readers."

In this regard, we extend a cordial invitation to all visitors to come by the Editorial Seal's stand, where they can explore the latest releases from our general collection, as well as the new additions to our ‘Posteris Lvmen’ collection. As we have shared previously, the latter represents a significant effort by the Universidad del Cauca to preserve the bibliographic memory of the region, in commemoration of the bicentennial of this institution, which is a heritage for all. Through the publication of 100 titles between 2022 and 2027, we aim to celebrate and highlight our history in an unprecedented way.

Finally, the participation of the Editorial Seal of the Universidad del Cauca in FilBo 2024 is a demonstration of this institution's broad commitment to promoting culture and fostering reading in Colombia, while also showcasing some of the knowledge production generated in the southwestern region of the country. What are you waiting for to visit us and discover our latest publications and editorial projects created directly from the heart of the Alma Mater caucana?
