Transforming Together, Challenges into Achievements! In 8 days, Unicauca will report 2023 accountability

La Universidad -

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Francisco José de Caldas Auditorium, the University of Cauca, led by Rector Deibar René Hurtado Herrera and accompanied by the senior management team, will present a detailed report on the management carried out during the year 2023. In that year, through joint and collaborative work, challenges were transformed into achievements, positively impacting not only the university community but also the residents of the region.

For some time now, the University of Cauca has been preparing for the Public Accountability Hearing for the 2023 fiscal year, a significant year for the current Institutional Development Plan "For a University of Excellence and Solidarity," as it marks the completion of the first year of management under the current administration led by Rector Deibar René Hurtado Herrera. While this is not the first accountability report of this management team, as it is the second year of their leadership, the first year (2022) was focused on transitioning from the previous rectoral plan to the current one.

This accountability report allows us to show society that we are capable of transforming the challenges outlined in the Development Plan into tangible achievements. We are working towards this, but we also understand that these achievements will need to be reached gradually. We will account for this first year of the Development Plan, but with the conviction that we will continue working to ensure that the other achievements and goals outlined in our roadmap up to 2027 can continue to become tangible results," stated Rector Deibar René Hurtado Herrera.

Thus, this regional think tank opens this meeting space with its university community and, in general, with all interested parties to, with transparency and in an open dialogue, share how it is working and how public resources have been used to transform lives and make dreams come true through public and quality education. Hence the importance of being part of such participatory and inclusive events, where the most significant achievements are showcased. For the Alma Mater caucana, these include creating opportunities for young people from remote areas to access higher education, as well as contributing to peacebuilding in the region, to name just two examples.

This is an opportunity for the university community, the general public, and the region to understand what their University is doing. Beyond the legal requirement for a public institution to account for its actions and demonstrate transparency to the public and oversight bodies, it is a chance to hear about what our university is doing and fall even more in love with this institution, which is a symbol of Popayán and the southwest of the country,” said Andrés Felipe Rivera Fierro, head of the Office of Planning and Institutional Development. He also invited everyone to be part of this exercise by attending on Thursday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. in the Francisco José de Caldas Auditorium, sending their questions or concerns through this link, or following the live broadcast on the University of Cauca’s official digital channels (Facebook or our YouTube channel), or via Unicauca Estéreo.

And in line with this process, as perfect preparation for the big day, a series of discussions will be held between April 15 and 23 across the nine faculties and the North Campus of our institution. These discussions aim to account for the management activities conducted within these academic units. If you are interested in attending these participation spaces, we invite you to check the schedule here.

Thus, the University of Cauca invites you to participate in this Public Accountability Hearing, through which we will share the challenges that, collaboratively, have been transformed into achievements, advancing the strengthening of an institution of excellence and solidarity that, on its way to its bicentennial, continues to demonstrate why it is #HeritageOfAll.
