The projects developed by student Andrea Yamilex Burgos Ceballos and graduate Claudia Viviana Carrasquilla will be presented during the event, which takes place from April 8 to 12 in the Dominican Republic.

The Latin American Congress on Public and Urban Transportation (CLATPU) in its 2024 edition is held in the city of Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), at the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, institutions that have shown notable progress in the development of mobility, serving as a model for the Latin American region.

The organizing committee of the CLATPU, which takes place from April 8 to 12, selected two projects led by students and graduates of the Civil Engineering program at the University of Cauca to be presented orally at this event aimed at professionals and enthusiasts of transit, urban mobility, public transportation, transportation planning, and public space recovery.

The first project, titled 'Traffic and Road Safety Analysis at Intersections Near Educational Institutions – Case Study of the Tulcán Sector of the University of Cauca – Popayán, Colombia,' was developed by Civil Engineering student Andrea Yamilex Burgos Ceballos, under the guidance of Engineers Carlos Calero and Carlos Oñate.

The second project, 'Soil Stabilization on Unpaved Rural Roads through the Application of Coffee Husk Ash,' was carried out by Engineer Claudia Viviana Carrasquilla, a graduate of the Civil Engineering program, under the supervision of Engineers Carlos Calero and Ferney Quiñones, all of whom are members of the Transportation Research Seedbed.

The participation of these projects in an international setting provides an invaluable opportunity to share and gain knowledge with other entities from Latin America. Additionally, it aims to establish connections with similar institutions to strengthen the academic field of the department,” stated student Andrea Yamilex Burgos Ceballos.

This participation is aligned with achieving the goals of the Civil Engineering Department in the following dimensions:

nowledge Management: Strengthening the research culture within the Faculty of Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on products related to Popayán.

Knowledge Management: Encouraging the attendance of foreign and national research faculty at international events, promoting collaboration in teaching, research, and outreach.
