Four Unicauca Students' Theses Nominated for Best Design Project Award 2024.
The projects CREUNI, Ductus - Typographic Biography, Educational Material for the Afrocaucana Chair, and Red Trazo were nominated by the Academic Design Network (RAD) for their qualities and excellence.
The Academic Design Network (RAD) selected four graduation projects from Graphic Design students at the University of Cauca among the most outstanding in Colombia. Thus, the projects nominated for the Best Graduation Project in Design 2024 are CREUNI, led by Andrés Felipe Londoño Aguilar, Laura Isabella Chamorro Moros, Yesi Vanessa Perafán Ordóñez, and Santiago Echeverri Valencia; Ductus - Typographic Biography by Jorge Andrés Soto Chilito; Educational Material for the Afrocaucana Chair by Juliana Santacruz Mosquera, Karol Nathaly Chicunque Lucena, and Juan Pablo López Balcázar; and Red Trazo by Jorge Luís Romo Fajardo, Dairo Leandro Ruano Ruiz, Jhon Fernando Gutiérrez Cuetocue, and Fernando Javier Mafla Mallama.
Regarding the graduation projects, we recall that CREUNI received an Honor Mention from the Graphic Design program. Its goal is to develop a process for creating a digital product from design using Lean UX methodology. CREUNI is an online application designed for students of the University of Cauca to gain job opportunities and develop skills in their professional field while studying. The platform offers a wide variety of tools and resources to help students create an online profile and an attractive resume in their professional area, allowing them to present themselves to potential companies and employers, as well as to academic projects, voluntary monitoring, and research projects.
In turn, Ductus - Biografía Tipográfica is a graduation project with LAURO from the Graphic Design program, inspired by the popular graphics of Caucan buses (chivas). Chiva is a project born from the interest in learning about typography design from the action-reflection perspective, with the purpose of experimenting with how to create a typeface and revealing those creative processes that are generally invisible due to the magnitude of time and effort that such projects may require.
Educational Material for the Afrocaucana Chair, a graduation project with Honorable Mention in Graphic Design, aims to design educational material that aids in a better understanding of the topics covered by the Chair of Afrocaucano Studies – Weaving Dreams of Freedom and Culture (CEA-TSLC), as pedagogical material established at I. E. Limbania Velasco in Santander de Quilichao.
Red Trazo is a graduation project with Honorable Mention in Graphic Design that emerged as an initiative to create spaces for meeting, learning, and collaboration for enthusiasts, emerging artists, and professionals from various disciplines. Its aim is to address the need to explore and promote initiatives that foster the development of technical and experimental skills related to the creation and value of illustration, from a reflective and collaborative perspective.
The RAD National Design Awards aim to recognize the projects, processes, reflections, and contributors within the national design ecosystem that, due to their qualities and excellence, stand out and position design as a significant value generator in Colombian society and the productive sector.
