A Unicauca graduate achieved academic excellence during her master's studies at a European university

Ángela Sofía Gómez López, a graduate of the Environmental Engineering program and member of the Environmental Science and Engineering Group (GCISA) at the University of Cauca, achieved academic excellence during her Master's in Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain.

Since 2021, Ángela Sofía Gómez López pursued her Master's in Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain, achieving an average score of 8.9 out of 10, thereby earning recognition for academic excellence in her postgraduate studies. Throughout her master's program, her academic performance was exceptional, receiving honors during the two years of her degree, significantly elevating the reputation of the University of Cauca and Colombia.

The Unicauca graduate also conducted her master's thesis within the Technology of Structures and Materials Laboratory (LATEM) at the UPC. There, she designed and implemented an original methodology to assess the effectiveness of porous concrete in removing contaminants from surface runoff water.

Ángela Sofia Gómez defended her master's thesis on October 20, receiving highly favorable comments on her work. The evaluation committee highlighted the potential of her experimental methodology and the extensive literature review conducted in her research. Consequently, the committee awarded her thesis a grade of 9, denoting excellence. Therefore, the University of Cauca graduate successfully completed her engineering master's in Europe with outstanding academic performance and made a significant contribution to research.
