The Catalysis Research Group presents studies on technologies for decontaminating water sources
Within the framework of the XIII Colombian Catalysis Symposium, the research collective presented five of its studies on electrocatalysis and advancements in its research seedbed.
The Catalysis Research Group, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cauca, participated in the XIII Colombian Catalysis Symposium held from October 9th to 13th in Bucaramanga, organized by the Center for Catalysis Research (CICAT) at the Industrial University of Santander. The university collective from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences and Education presented five investigations, including work in the area of electrocatalysis, a technology used for decontaminating water sources. They also shared information about the research seedbed activities through a poster presentation. (https://www.unicauca.edu.co/versionP/sites/default/files/files/SICCAT_SE...)
The event involved students from the Chemistry program: Fabián Ramírez, Alejandro Montilla, Jean Pierre Calvache, Jancarlo Quevedo, Karen Rosero, Paula Escobar, Laura Vera, and Carolina Salazar, led by Professor Cristian David Miranda Muñoz, who was linked to the Board of Directors of the Colombian Catalysis Society.
Regarding the Catalysis Research Group, it is noteworthy that it has been distinguished in Category A by MinCiencias in its latest update of group recognition and classification. With its participation in this event, the group consolidates its national recognition, maintaining itself as a reference due to the quality of its research. This now includes the use of Artificial Intelligence tools to explore new catalytic routes that allow for systematizing better reaction conditions for the developed catalysts.
Furthermore, they are at the forefront of preparing catalytic systems aimed at leaving the least carbon footprint and also valorizing industrial waste, positively impacting environmental aspects that Chemistry enables through Catalysis.
