Cauca Young Researchers and Innovators Project presents its first publication
On Friday, April 14, the book "Reflections on the Projects of Young Researchers and Innovators in the Department of Cauca 2022" was launched. Edited and printed by the Editorial Seal of the Autonomous University Corporation of Cauca, the text is the result of the first call for funding for scholarships-internships within the framework of the project "Implementation of the Project for Young Researchers and Innovators in the Department of Cauca".
"It seeks to promote the scientific vocation in young people from the Department of Cauca with academic excellence, postulated by entities of the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTI) of the Department through their links to research, technological development or innovation groups, which allow them to develop skills and abilities as researchers, applying the learning-by-doing methodology”, stated Carlos Alberto Cobos Lozada, director/supervisor of this project.
In each of the three calls financed by the project, 30 young researchers and innovators are supported through scholarships and internships with a duration of 12 months. The young people who benefited from the first call participated in the "I Conference on Reflection of the Young Researchers and Innovators Project in the Department of Cauca 2022", a space created to disseminate the reflection articles of their research proposals, in addition to motivating and raising awareness among more young people from the department of Cauca to participate in this initiative.
“Research is a very beautiful path from which you can learn and live very well, doing interesting things that have an impact every day in the different sectors of human development, generating a better quality of life. Basically what we want with this is to show that a project with young people, many without experience in publications, created research articles, thus we managed to make our book with this first cohort, with this we want to motivate new young people to really see what the topic is of research and innovation, and that writing about what one investigates is something that can be done”, added Professor Carlos Alberto Cobos Lozada, who is part of the Systems Department and the R&D Research Group at Information Technologies of the University of Cauca.
This publication has chapters on scientific reflection in various areas of knowledge, where the students of this first cohort of the Young Researchers project reflected their experience in this exercise in building new knowledge. Research professors from different institutions evaluated the articles, in which they sought to improve the quality of their creation process and refinements to achieve the final result.
The launch of the book, which took place at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Cauca, also included the intervention of César Jesús Pardo Calvache, member of the coordination team of the Young Researchers Project, and Ramsés López Santamaría, general editor of this post. Also in attendance were Juan Carlos Pino Correa, General Editor of the Editorial Development Area and delegate of the Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Cauca; Iván Marcelo Gallego, representative of the Planning Office; the team of book editors and the students and tutors who were part of the Young Researchers project in the different participating educational institutions.
