CDT Vial Project promotes analysis spaces on the use of new paving technologies

The Technological Development Center for Road Infrastructure Innovation held the international conference Swedish concrete pavements, research & practice, by Dr. Johan Silfwerbrand, professor at the Royal Swedish Institute of Technology - KTH, in the auditorium of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences.

The purpose of the international conference was to learn about the different alternatives that are being implemented in the use of concrete/asphalt, in order to welcome them and investigate the way in which they can be implemented in our environment, contributing to the main purpose of the CDT Vial to strengthen the innovation processes of road infrastructure in our department.

The dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Juan Carlos Casas, in his opening remarks, alluded to the importance of developing this type of event to keep us at the forefront of issues in which the Faculty of Civil Engineering is a benchmark. “Today we are meeting to advance through the region and through Colombia, since the University of Cauca is the Colombian embassy to the world in this particular process, in the Alma Mater of Cauca we do not have to invent the pavement, we do not have to invent it in ways, because it is our strength”.

Alejandro Muñoz Astudillo, Civil Engineer and conference participant highlighted the importance of the different articulations that occur from dialogue spaces like these. “It is important to make connections, like the one today, at our University of Cauca, in order to promote research, financing projects that further develop our country through the articulations that the CDT is generating, to promote research from the academy".

Thus, we highlight the efforts made by the CDT Vial to fulfill its mission of promoting the innovation processes necessary for the generation of new alternatives and thus contributing to the tertiary road system, mainly in the department of Cauca, which is linked to our commitment to positively transform our region from a University of Excellence and Solidarity.
