International cooperation, a vehicle that transforms realities: Unicauca

Directors of the University of Cauca headed by the rector Deibar René Hurtado Herrera held a meeting with different international cooperation organizations. The space made it possible to socialize the Institutional Development Plan "For a University of Excellence and Solidarity" and propose alliances to strengthen institutional processes.

“We seek to add wills and institutional conditions. We need to articulate so that the initiatives that international cooperation is developing have a greater impact and, what we have proposed to the entities and organizations that are developing this work is that they count on us”. The rector of the University of Cauca, Deibar René Hurtado, stated during the International Cooperation meeting that was attended by representatives of the Colombian Red Cross from the Cauca section; Colombia Peace Project; USAID Territories of Opportunity Program; NGO Convoy of Hope; humanitarian organization HIAS and the ECOSUR Corporation.

The Rector of the Universidad del Cauca explained that a cooperation team has been created with the Vice-Rector for Research, through the DAE, Office of Planning and Institutional Development, Office of Inter-institutional and International Relations and participation in this working group is expected. of the Center for Continuing, Open and Virtual Education - CECAV. “This is a meeting to get to know each other and tell them about our Development Plan, our strategic axes and other commitments that we have at an institutional level, so that they see themselves in the work we do and we see how what they do is also articulated with this institutional effort.

“Experience has shown us that when we play in an articulated way, greater impacts are achieved and at the same time the optimization of all resources, including human resources, with which we would be able to sustain the initiatives over time. So, it is a day that has left me very happy because the purposes of the meeting were achieved and it was still pending to sit down at the work tables that allow us to move from goodwill to action”, emphasized the University Director.

Yaddy Gómez, head of the DAE Division of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Articulation with the Environment, highlighted the space with the organizations for their work in the territories and their incidence in several of the department's municipalities. “We are convinced that cooperation is a vehicle to transform realities, to leverage various processes and goals that we have from the Institutional Development Plan. We are forming a team from an internal cooperation table at the University of Cauca because we must be face to face with our communities. They are the friends of cooperation that help us weave in a network to advance the purposes we have; knowing that we are on our way to a bicentennial university of excellence and solidarity”, he added.

Similarly, Sandra Isabel Mosquera, a member of the USAID Territories of Opportunity program, raised the importance of knowing the Institutional Development Plan 2022-2027 of the University of Cauca. “It seems to me an important, key and pertinent bet for the transformation of the territories of the department of Cauca. Basically, axis number three of this plan talks about the importance of continuing to strengthen the university as an institution of solidarity and committed to the development of the territories. I believe that, in this way, the articulation of the university with the different organizations is essential. It can be a very important standard bearer to be able to generate the changes and transformations in our department”, she concluded.
