Unicauca Tourism Program exalts Latin American cultural heritage
The students of the X semester of Tourism, within the framework of the subject of Congresses and Events, supported the logistics of the event "Latin American Cultural Showcase". In the same way, their special relationship in the different artistic manifestations is highlighted, being the protagonists of the day.
"Latin American Cultural Exhibition" is an event organized by the Tourism program with the purpose of approaching the intercultural expressions of our Latin America. In its latest version that took place on December 5, 2022 and that was held within the framework of the 195 years of the University of Cauca and 55 years of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences, it was attended by 119 people. , among students, graduates, teachers and administrators from different areas.
In its programming, the presentation of the musical group Khuaya Pacha stands out, made up of students and graduates of the University of Cauca: Juan Carlos Parra, Julio Burbano, Daniel Ordoñez, Leonardo Meneses, Nicol Bedoya and Juan Sebastián Durán, from the Tourism program; who interpreted melodies from Latin American towns, making us remember how wonderful music is.
Subsequently, the students of different programs and especially of Tourism, showed some folkloric dances, where the culture of the different countries could be appreciated. Next, the represented dances are explained: Tinku: Folkloric dance of Peru; Tobas: The group Herencias de mi Tierra from San Miguel de La Vega, performed this dance originally from Bolivia; San Juanito: This is a religious dance of Ecuadorian origin. The women's clothing stands out for their colorful skirts and shawls, necklaces, espadrilles and chumbes; Abozao: birimbi dance originating in the Colombian Pacific, which consists of performing a confrontation between men and women, who alternately make suggestive movements, and Raimy: it is similar to a march that invites you to stamp your feet on the ground so that it is " stay awake", holding hands making shapes and encouraging more people to participate.

Next, the I Tourist Photography Contest: El Cauca in Images was presented, a call that had the support of the Photoclub of the University of Cauca both in design and in awarding; The university community was invited and as a result 17 participants were obtained, among which are: 10 students, 4 graduates, 1 pensioner, 1 administrative and 1 professor.
The Fotoclub defined the winners of the contest, according to the criteria established in the terms of reference, as follows:
Category 1: Cultural and Nature Tourism of Cauca
First place: Photography "Reflections of peace" by Jonathan Rendón M.
Second place: Photography "Volcanic Chain of the Kokonucos" by Juan Manuel Duque.
Third place: Photography "Symmetry" by Yohan Camilo Usamag.
Category 2: The University of Cauca in Time
First place: Photography "Classic charm" by Kevin Andrés Samboní.
The Latin American Cultural Showcase concluded with the gastronomic sample offered by the catering company DLP, in charge of the chef Diana Lucía Pino, who offered a series of typical products from different countries. From Mexico, Mexican tacos, guacamole, quesadillas and nachos were tasted; from Peru mango ceviche and chicken causa, and on behalf of Colombia and Cauca empanadas de pipián and salpicón from Baudilia.
