Criteria are established for the delivery of data plans to undergraduate students
Through Rectoral Resolution 134 of 2021, the University of Cauca establishes the guidelines and procedure to carry out the assignment of data plans for access to the mobile internet service, for undergraduate students in vulnerable socioeconomic situations and who present difficulties of connectivity, due to the COVID19 pandemic.
3,412 data plans will be delivered to students of undergraduate programs at the University of Cauca, especially those who are in a vulnerable socioeconomic situation and have connectivity difficulties, thus complying with the guidelines set forth by the University Directorate.
As established by Rectoral Resolution 0134 of 2021, the criteria that are set obey the institutional actions aimed at giving continuity to academic activities and those related to the fulfillment of the missionary objectives of the Institution through the use of computer tools, providing the guarantees academic that were approved at the negotiation table with the three estates.
As part of the guidelines and the procedure for assigning data plans, each Faculty, through its Council, will issue an administrative act by means of which the committee responsible for assigning mobile data plans is formed, which, In all cases, it must be led by the Dean of each Faculty or whoever takes his place, the Support Professional of each Dean, one (1) Student for each undergraduate academic program and the Coordinator of each undergraduate academic program.
It is noteworthy that to determine the number of data plans to be delivered, the University of Cauca carried out a process through a survey, phone calls, text messages and emails, which allowed identifying the difficulties and needs that the student community has to continue their studies in the context of the current pandemic. Subsequently, the information was analyzed, in conjunction with the same actors, defining the criteria for assigning these data plans.
According to the technical analysis carried out, the following number of mobile data plans assigned to each Faculty is determined:
• Faculty of Arts: 165
• Faculty of Agricultural Sciences: 267
• Faculty of Health Sciences: 346
• Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences: 305
• Faculty of Human and Social Sciences: 350
• Faculty of Natural, Exact and Education Sciences: 481
• Faculty of Law, Political and Social Sciences: 690
• Faculty of Civil Engineering: 433
• Faculty of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering: 375
To determine both the list of eligible and the final list for the assignment of mobile data plans, undergraduate students must meet the following requirements:
1. Be academically enrolled in the first academic period of 2021 in
any undergraduate program.
2. Have completed the academic enrollment process between the period from 01
until February 12, 2021
3. Present connectivity difficulties to receive classes in non-presence conditions supported by the data obtained in the survey called “Survey of connectivity and technological devices”.
4. Be an undergraduate student belonging to socioeconomic strata 0, 1, 2 and 3. Once the applications for these strata are exhausted, the remaining quotas will be assigned to students from strata 4, 5 and 6.
5. Students with the highest number of subjects enrolled, and those with degree work enrolled, will be prioritized.
6. Not have a disciplinary sanction in force
The mobile data plans that are delivered to undergraduate students who do not have their own internet connectivity services or have connectivity difficulties to receive classes and / or develop academic and institutional activities in non-presence conditions, will be active in the academic periods 2021-1 and 2021-2, in accordance with the terms of the supply contract.
In the event of location problems and / or operator coverage, damaged or stolen simcard, the student must immediately report the case to the institutional emails viceadm@unicauca.edu.co, vanesaca@unicauca.edu.co and jonathanarcila@unicauca.edu.co to correct the problem or to replace the simcard. If the damage reported is due to misuse or handling, the student will be responsible for assuming the replacement cost.
