Seedbed of Research in Ethno-biology reports on its investigative dynamics

La Universidad -

The newsletter seeks to demonstrate the research processes that are being developed by the members of the SIE and encourage students to publicize their research progress in the various contexts of their work.

The newsletter of the SIE Ethno-biology Research Seedbed was born as a group initiative of students, professors and communities of the department of Cauca, encouraged and supported by the Group of Latin American Ethno-botanists GELA and the Doctorate in Ethno-biology and Bio-cultural Studies of the University of Cauca, after the holding of the IV Latin American and V Colombian Congress of Ethno-biology, which took place in the city of Popayán from September 28 to October 2, 2015.

The objective of the publication is to show and publicize part of the research processes that are being developed by the members of the SIE and to encourage students to publicize their research advances in the various contexts of their work.

In its first volume, it shows readers the importance of the research hotbeds at the University of Cauca, the foundation of the Doctorate in Ethno-biology and Bio-cultural Studies and the process of formalizing the hotbed, the mission, vision and context of action passion and work.

“There is a very important role for the students, they have been very motivated. The objective of this newsletter is to publicize, disseminate and, above all, call all students and teachers to publish as an essay and comment what their experiences have been in research, training and strengthening Ethno-biology. In this newsletter we are joined by the members of the Colombian Ethno-biology Society, so we have very interesting material that promotes the construction of bio-cultural studies”, expressed the teacher Olga Lucía Sanabria, coordinator of the Doctorate in Ethno-biology and Bio-cultural Studies and mentor of the SIE .

The newsletter is registered by the ISSN (ISSN: 2745-0805), which strengthens publications in the scientific order and will be published digitally every six months. Interested persons can express their interest through the email semilleroetnobiologia@unicauca.edu.co.

“They can send their reflective papers, research or preliminary results. The idea is to stimulate the writing of undergraduate and graduate students in the newsletter”, Yordy Werley Polindara Moncayo, Coordinator of the Ethno-biology Research Seedbed, stated.

The teacher Olga Lucía Sanabria thanked the Office of the Vice President for Research for her support. "We want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for the strengthening of the seedbeds that the Vice-rectory for Research has had, since the support has been felt and it has achieved that the students are encouraged and propose initiatives as important as this one."

The publication can be downloaded directly from the website of the Doctorate in Ethno-biology and Bio-cultural Studies of the University of Cauca in the Seedbed section. The invitation is to be aware of the next publications and academic events that will take place within the framework of the SIE.
