In a ceremony held at the Francisco José de Caldas Auditorium of the University of Cauca, the project led by the Ministry of Justice and Law, USAID and the Government of Cauca was presented, in which the Alma Mater de los Caucans and the Cauca Chamber of Commerce are the anchor for its execution.

A pedagogical and public policy instrument that seeks to facilitate the implementation and promote the use of Conflict Resolution Methods (MRC) in municipalities, especially those focused on Development Programs with a Territorial Approach (PDET), was presented for the Cauca department in the Francisco José de Caldas de Popayán Auditorium.

"Justice is one of the fundamental pillars to achieve peace in any society, and it is a fundamental line in our Development Plan 42 Reasons to Advance. This Toolbox that is presented today allows us to strengthen the coexistence and the relationship of the institutional framework with the community, strategies like this allow us to continue working in defense of life and the territories, "said Elías Larrahondo Carabalí, Governor of Cauca.

With this tool, mayors and local administrations will have at their disposal a practical, free and easily accessible material with the route for the implementation of mechanisms such as conciliation in equity, conciliation in law, school mediation and community conciliation and / or intercultural conciliation in the regions.

According to Francisco José Chaux, Vice Minister for the promotion of Justice, "this is a complement to the local justice models, we are committed to reaching the 'Deep Colombia', the 'rural Colombia', we want with this strategy to contribute to Build capacities in the communities in Cauca we advance in the training for conciliators in law and equity Conflict resolution methods are a mechanism for access to justice for peace building. We work as a team to provide solutions to Colombians and the Caucanos ".

Buenos Aires, Caldono, Jambaló, Miranda and Santander de Quilichao, are, so far, the prioritized municipalities for the implementation of this tool and thus promote the use of Alternative Conflict Resolution Methods (MRC) in disputes by: boundaries, land, fights between neighbors for consumption of alcohol or other substances, domestic violence, debts; among others, which can be reconciled with the help of a third party, thus preventing this type of problem from escalating to another level.

For his part, the rector of the University of Cauca, José Luis Diago Franco, expressed institutional support for this great project that seeks to contribute to territorial peace through the conflict resolution mechanism, a scenario in which he also highlighted the events of violence that occurs every day in the Department and that affects Cauca families. "Violence is the great epidemic that the department of Cauca has, that is why we have to promote a regional dialogue that seeks alternatives, and in that context we are going to sign the great pact for Peace," he said.

The development of this Toolkit is the result of the articulated and collaborative work between the Ministry of Justice and Law, the National Planning Department and the Justice for Sustainable Peace Program (JSP), with the support of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. , Partners Colombia, “Universidad del Valle”, Corpovisionario, USAID, the technical teams of the National Planning Department and the Directorate of Conflict Resolution Methods of the Ministry of Justice, and with the commitment of territorial entities such as the Government of Cauca, Chamber of Commerce del Cauca and the University of Cauca with the Faculty of Law, Political and Social Sciences.
