Unicauca student will participate in an academic event on International Economic Law
Outstanding student of the Law program of the University of Cauca, will participate next February 10 in the Webinar 2030: A New Horizon for International Economic Law?
This is Sebastián Camilo Camayo Ortiz, a tenth semester student of the Law program at the Faculty of Law, Political and Social Sciences of the Universidad del Cauca, who with the article entitled "Trends in 'Third-Party Funding' and its Future in International Arbitration: An Analysis of Third Party Financing for the Year 2030 ", in 2020, was the winner of the 2030 Global Jurist Economic International Law award: A new horizon for international economic law.
In his article, Sebastián Camilo, who has participated in different national and international competitions on commercial arbitration, details the current status and benefits of the regulation of the figure called third-party financing in international arbitration.
He explained to the Law student that international arbitration is an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, generally commercial cross-border or between investors and States; However, it is a costly mechanism for certain agents in the international market; Third-party financing is also a favorable response to this problem, because it allows financing the expenses involved in initiating an international arbitration procedure that must be properly regulated to avoid inconveniences such as conflicts of interest in arbitrators or the presentation of frivolous claims, among others. aspects.
This contest is organized by the Externado University of Colombia, together with professors and academics from the University of Zaragoza (Spain), the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, the National University of Rosario (Argentina), the Technological University of El Salvador, and the Latin American Network of International Economic Law (RED LAT-DEI).
