We concluded the visit of academic peers to the Public Accounting program with a very positive outcome! This is how we continue progressing on the path to strengthening academic excellence.
The University of Cauca continues to advance toward an ambitious goal: meeting the highest quality standards as a Public Institution of Higher Education, allowing us to remain one of the best in Colombia. In this regard, all necessary actions are being propelled from the Alma Mater to ensure that its various academic programs receive or renew High-Quality Accreditation. During November 16th, 17th, and 18th, in a virtual setting, our Public Accounting program received a visit from academic peers designated by the National Accreditation Council.
With the aim of shaping integral, ethical Public Accountants with a scientific and critical spirit, alongside social and professional responsibility, who contribute to the social, economic, political, cultural, and environmental transformation of the region and the country, the University of Cauca established the Public Accounting program on August 5th, 1966, through Superior Agreement 114. Throughout its trajectory, this program has been dedicated to training competent professionals capable of directing, channeling, and overseeing the resources of both governmental and private sector organizations.
It is important to highlight that on March 29th, 2016, through Superior Agreement 019, the University of Cauca, in its mission to extend higher education to all corners of the region, began offering the Public Accounting program at the North Santander headquarters in Quilichao. Furthermore, on February 21st, 2018, it received High-Quality Accreditation through Resolution No. 2899 issued by the Ministry of National Education.
Therefore, during November 16th, 17th, and 18th of the current year, the Public Accounting program underwent a visit from academic peers to continue pursuing High-Quality Accreditation. "It's worth noting that the visit changed format, as it was initially planned to be in person and at the last minute, a virtual format was suggested, which we accepted as a University. Amid the adjustments we had to make, everything went very well, and the peers who evaluated us considered it positive that we responded so quickly to the change in format. This demonstrates that both the program and the institution have a certain level of maturity in our internal quality assurance system," expressed Alexander Buendía, Director of the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation.
Furthermore, it's important to mention that the visit highlighted the radio space conducted by the Public Accounting program on the university radio station, Unicauca Estéreo, named 'Alcabala: What the accounts tell'. As expressed by María Alejandra Medina, coordinator of the radio station, "This program addresses different topics in a colloquial manner, considering that the station's audience is very diverse. Therefore, the program's instructors use language in a way that anyone can understand the subjects they address and take ownership of them. Hence, some topics include budgeting, indebtedness, the best time to acquire a mortgage loan, and so on, which has garnered a positive response from the audience." Undoubtedly, these types of initiatives carried out by the Public Accounting program contribute to strengthening its social projection and further contribute to the consolidation of the University of Excellence and Solidarity we envision.
As the University of Cauca, we celebrate these spaces that allow us to continue our processes of continuous improvement, as it is a great incentive to meet the highest quality standards. As a public institution of higher education, our primary interest is to continue providing the best experience for Unicauca's students to transform their lives, those of their families, and their environment.
On the path to our bicentennial, Unicauca has set a powerful goal; a goal associated, of course, with continuing to be one of the best Universities in the region and the country. In this sense, we will continue sharing relevant information on this journey that we, as an educational community, conceive and make a reality through teamwork and love for this, the home of all.
