The University of Cauca was present at the Ibero-Latin American Asphalt Congress.
Professors Jaime Rafael Obando Ante and Ferney Quiñones Sinisterra from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Cauca were speakers at the twenty-second edition of the Ibero-Latin American Asphalt Congress (XXII CILA), held from April 22 to 26, 2024, at the Palacio de Congresos in Granada, Spain.
The Ibero-Latin American Congress (CILA), recognized as the leading Spanish-language congress on asphalt and paving, introduced something new in its 2024 edition: the inclusion of new themes and historical-cultural interventions, thereby enriching the technical and social program designed for participants. Over 5 days, this event brought together prominent experts and professionals from various Ibero-American and European countries, providing them with the opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore the latest advancements in technology, research, and development related to the asphalt industry.

Considering the previous context, our Alma Mater was also represented thanks to the participation of two members of the University of Cauca. Professor Ferney Quiñones Sinisterra presented his lecture titled "Behavior of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) Used as Aggregates in Granular Layers and in Hot Asphalt Mixes." Meanwhile, Professor Jaime Obando Ante discussed the progress and achievements of the University of Cauca's Technological Development Center for Road Infrastructure Innovation (CDT Vial). Additionally, he took the opportunity to invite all attendees to participate in Colombia’s most important pavement symposium: the XXIII Colombian Symposium on Pavement Engineering and the IV Ibero-American Symposium on Pavement Engineering, which will take place on October 23, 24, and 25, 2024, at the Casa de la Moneda Convention Center in Popayán.

The participation of these two professors at the XXII CILA not only reflects the University of Cauca's commitment to research and innovation in the field of civil engineering but also highlights Colombia's significant role on the international stage of paving and road infrastructure. For this reason, from this regional center of thought, we celebrate the contributions of these talented professionals and educators who, through their academic input, significantly and undeniably strengthen this institution of excellence and solidarity.
