The team from the Presidential Program Sounds for Peacebuilding, led in Zone 6 by the University of Cauca, participated in the Territorial Pedagogical Dialogues held on September 26 and 27 at the UPTC in Tunja.

During the working sessions led by the Technological University of Tunja, representatives from the dynamic tables of the universities implementing the program in various departments across the country shared the progress of the pedagogical strategy that is transforming lives through musical training in school environments.

Activities focused on social mapping were carried out, exploring different categories of territorial analysis and their particularities, allowing for the identification of contextual elements that enriched peacebuilding dialogues from a perspective of diversity.

Additionally, a space was created for cultural knowledge holders to share their wisdom regarding the artistic and ancestral richness of our country, encouraging sensitivity and appreciation for the traditional knowledge of communities.

This meeting allowed the team from the University of Cauca to discuss the challenges, strengths, and hurdles of the pedagogical strategy for Zone 6, represented through three phases: Weaving, Braiding, and Linking. “We prepare the sheep’s wool to spin, we join the strands in a braiding process, and finally, we intertwine the fabrics to give shape and meaning to our musical endeavors.

Looking at Cauca, Huila, and Nariño through music is to see an illusion of social and historical interconnections that merge through artistic, musical, and gastronomic expression, among many others, which have forged a unique identity that fights against frustration and the melancholy of shared ancestral memories that refuse to fade away thanks to their art. They resist the forces of violence determined to silence the originality of local expressions in the territories we are called to support," stated Inés Guerrero Arciniegas, pedagogical leader of Zone 6.
