Unicauca’s teacher is part of the National Inter-sectorial Commission for Quality Assurance in Higher Education CONACES
Professor José Olmedo Ortega Hurtado, attached to the Department of Linguistics, is the first teacher at the University of Cauca to join the Education Room of the National Inter-sectorial Commission for Quality Assurance in Higher Education CONACES of the Ministry of National Education.
After completing the Seventh Public Invitation to form the Bank of Available of its Evaluation Rooms, and the induction and joining day for new members, the teacher of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Cauca, José Olmedo Ortega Hurtado , becomes the first teaching staff to be part of the evaluators that make up the Education Room of the National Inter-sectorial Commission for Quality Assurance in Higher Education CONACES.
José Olmedo Ortega Hurtado is a doctor in Education, Language and Education Area, Postdoctoral in Internationalization and Accreditation of Higher Education, with extensive teaching, administrative, investigative experience and expertise as an Academic Peer of the National Accreditation Council -CNA and CONACES. He has been Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, on several occasions, member of the Institutional Accreditation Committee of our Alma Mater and currently serves as Head of the Department of Linguistics.
The Ministry of National Education through the Sub-directorate of Quality Assurance of Higher Education opened the public invitation on November 20, 2019 and developed it in four stages: The first, registration, registration of applicants, virtual upload of documents and verification of requirements regarding studies, experience and research (enabling), until December 20, 2019; the second, application of a virtual test of knowledge (eliminatory), December 23, 2019; the third, conducting a face-to-face interview with the preselected (qualifying), from January 13 to 20, 2020; the fourth, preselection and selection of academic experts, until February 10, 2020. The process began with more than 2,600 registered academics and ended with 118 selected, of which 27 are from the Education Evaluation Room. The induction and splicing day was held in the first week of March 2020, in the city of Bogotá.
CONACES is a sectorial coordination and advisory body that is in charge of evaluating compliance with the requirements for the creation of higher education institutions, their academic change, redefinition, creation of sectionals and recognition as universities; as well as the evaluation of the quality conditions for the granting, modification and renewal of the qualified registry of the academic programs of higher education, including masters and doctorates of each specific area of knowledge.
