Unicauca’s engineers participate in NASA’s global competition
"We invite young people to join our groups and continue carrying out projects to solve the crises we are experiencing today"
The Francisco José de Caldas Astronomical Observatory, the Andromeda Astronomy and IEEE AESS Colombia participated in the challenge of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA, Space Apps Challenge, developed between May 30 and 31 and ends in July.
The group is made up of graduates of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications from the University of Cauca Sebastián Cajas Ordoñez and Pedro Alejandro Astaíza; students Camilo Segura, from Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and Santiago García Chicangana from the Systems Engineering program; together with Giovanna Ramírez of the Colombian Air Force and President of the Colombian Aerospace Chapter AESS, and Andrés Felipe Lagos, Electronic Engineer of the University District of Bogotá.
The challenge is developed in two challenges: the first one creating a device with a mobile app that helps to monitor physiological variables of a mobile respirator, as well as an artificial respirator, which after analyzing the data could verify its efficiency, and the second challenge creating an application to observe the migration of people before and during the quarantine taking night images of the suomi NPP satellite.
"This is the third activity that we carry out in collaboration with these entities, increasing interest in aerospace issues in Colombia and at the University of Cauca. We invite young people to join our groups and continue carrying out projects to solve the crisis we are living”, concludes the graduate Sebastián Cajas Ordoñez.
