Unicaucana Graduate Joins Colombian Delegation at International Tourism Fair in Germany
Stefanía Burbano Mazabuel, a graduate of the Tourism program, participated in ITB Berlin 2025, Europe's largest travel and tourism fair, held from March 4 to 6.
Due to her extensive knowledge of tourism in southwestern Colombia and her proficiency in German, Stefanía Burbano Mazabuel, a graduate of the Tourism program at the University of Cauca, was part of the delegation representing Colombia at ITB Berlin 2025. This event, one of the most significant in the global tourism industry, took place in the German capital from March 4 to 6.
“This participation is a remarkable achievement for the University of Cauca’s Tourism program, as ITB Berlin represents a global platform for promotion and networking. It serves as a strategic opportunity to position Colombia—and especially regions like Huila and Cauca—as key tourist destinations in the European market. At a time when South America is attracting increasing attention from European travelers, Colombia is emerging as an attractive and sustainable destination, thanks to its impressive biodiversity and the warmth of its people,” stated Stefanía Burbano Mazabuel, who currently works as a sales executive at Chaska Tours, a travel agency specializing in inbound tourism, particularly for German-speaking travelers.

The graduate explained that ITB Berlin 2025 brings together the international travel and tourism industry. This year, Albania was the guest country, standing out for its rich culture and heritage, while Colombia, with its unparalleled biodiversity, continues to establish itself as one of the most attractive destinations to explore. “We had days filled with meetings with old and great friends, but also with new and potential business partners who see Colombia as a destination full of biodiversity, culture, the best coffee, and the friendliest people.”

“We were incredibly proud to support our friends from Get Up and Go Colombia, who received the prestigious To Do Award for their work as peacebuilders through sustainable and socially responsible tourism in the department of Cauca. This recognition, awarded by the StudienKreis für Tourismus and Entwicklung organization for Tourism and Development, highlights the positive impact of tourism on the community, promoting social development, environmental conservation, and the strengthening of local cultures,” she concluded.
