At Unicauca, we continue facilitating the transition of young people to higher education: we have signed a new agreement that benefits Páez
With the aim of improving their results in the Saber 11 Tests, the University of Cauca and the Mayor's Office of Páez signed an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement to support the training process of Vocational Secondary Education students. The signing of the agreement took place on Thursday, April 18, at the rectory of the Alma Mater Caucana.
The University of Cauca, in its current Institutional Development Plan titled 'For a University of Excellence and Solidarity,' has established 'Education as a Generator of Potentialities and Opportunities' as its second strategic axis. In this regard, we are committed to facilitate access to higher education for young people from southwestern Colombia. Why? Because we continue to dream of transforming their lives and laying the foundations for a better future. In line with this commitment, on April 18, the signing of the Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement took place between the Rector of the University of Cauca, Deibar René Hurtado Herrera, and the Mayor of Páez, Hugo Javier Muñoz Achipiz. This agreement is part of the implementation of the Immediate Transition to Higher Education Program (PTIES), a process driven by the National Government that clearly aligns with the current roadmap of our esteemed University.
"For us, the possibility of reaching eastern Cauca and its entire area of influence, benefiting all the communities in this territory, means providing an opportunity to the young people, especially those from the rural areas of the most remote municipalities who feel they lack opportunities. We believe that this collaboration allows us to strengthen our firm commitment to ensuring that people experience a university that is in solidarity with their reality and at the same time committed to providing quality education," stated Rector Deibar René Hurtado, with the excitement of adding more alliances to this steadfast mission of reaching out and weaving from the territories.
For his part, the Mayor of Páez, Hugo Javier Muñoz Achipiz, expressed, "For us, the signing of this agreement is very important because we are honoring the promise we made to the community to close those gaps of inequality and access to higher education. I believe this agreement will enhance the qualifications of our students and make it possible for them to access higher education in the future. This agreement with the University of Cauca brings the university closer to the territory, which is one of our goals."

The agreement includes actions such as strengthening the academic skills of vocational education students, implementing innovative pedagogical strategies, and providing support in preparing for the Saber 11 tests. Additionally, it aims to promote the integration between secondary and higher education, offering young people tools and opportunities for their academic and professional development.
In this sense, with the signing of this agreement, the Universidad del Cauca and the Páez Municipality reaffirm their commitment to quality education and the comprehensive development of young people in the region, making significant contributions to strengthening the educational system and ensuring equitable access to higher education.
From this University of Excellence and Solidarity with its environment, we reiterate our interest in reaching the most remote areas of the department, transforming lives through academia and demonstrating that education is the way forward because at Unicauca, "we dream that you become Unicaucan@."
