In the clinical simulation laboratory of the University of Cauca, the emergency teams of Hospitals and Clinics of Popayán receive retraining in airway management and procedures for the management of patients with COVID-19.
"Today we started training for the emergency, hospitalization and intensive care teams of the Susana López Hospital in order to be prepared for any eventuality with the presence of patients who come to the service from any location in the department of Cauca" , stated the teacher Milton Delgado Orozco.
These free courses offered by the University of Cauca allow participating health personnel to face simulated clinical cases. "We have our respective team, which is a patient that is programmed through a computer, and obviously, allows us to perform clinical cases similar to a human being," added the teacher.
These reprogrammed scenarios allow health personnel to assess their knowledge and act, which is essential when dealing with cases in real life. “It is very enriching since in relation to the COVID 19 issue, something new is being learned every day. Constantly training ourselves will be that we face this disease and this social problem in a better way”, emphasizes Gustavo Fernández, an official at the Susana López Hospital.
