Unicauca Tourism Program celebrates ten years training human talent

With the Academic Agenda "Institutional Challenges for Regional Tourism Development", the Department of Tourism Sciences commemorated 10 years of the creation of the Tourism program.
Last Friday, March 6, at the Francisco José de Caldas Auditorium at the Universidad del Cauca, the academic event “Institutional Challenges for Regional Tourism Development” was held, with the participation of professors Andrés José Castrillón, dean of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences and Nohora Alfonso Bernal, from the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia.
This way, Professor Andrés José Castrillón Muñoz, presented advances of his recent research work with the paper entitled “Traveling exhibition Life and Work of Francisco José de Caldas, as a pedagogical strategy in the framework of Cultural and Creative Industries and social interaction " In turn, Professor Nohora Alfonso Bernal addressed the theme "Rural Tourism: tensions and challenges" as part of her experience and participation in rural tourism projects and initiatives in the department of Boyacá.
As part of the commemorative events, the Department of Tourism Sciences recognized Professor Castrillón for his projection, conviction, dedication and commitment to generate an opportunity for academic and professional training with the creation of the Tourism program of the Universidad del Cauca, also for being a visionary of the role that tourism would have in the development of Cauca and Colombia, facing the global and cultural contexts that we have today and what is to come.
The closing of this day was in charge of the student of the Band and Percussion Direction program at the University of Cauca, Andrey Sarria Jiménez, with the Vibraphone recital.
This commemorative act was attended by delegates from the Mayors of Popayán, Sucre, Suárez, Piendamó, Santander de Quilichao; This invitation was also attended by actors from the regional tourism sector such as the Cauca Chamber of Commerce, Tecnicafé - Supracafé, Cauca Museum Network, Tourism Office (Mayor's Office of Popayán), Aso Tourism Guides, Workshop School Foundation, Cotelco Cauca Chapter, UniComfacauca, National Learning Service (SENA), among others.
Within the framework of the Agenda, in the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences, the II Meeting of Graduates of the Tourism program was held. In this room, the presentation "The place of research in tourism training" was presented, highlighting the importance of a professional analysis around the contexts, practices and knowledge of tourism as a field of knowledge.
The program awarded different recognitions to graduates, highlighting their work in articulating the program with the external sector, their contributions to research and their participation as a hotbed of cultural practices.
