Unicauca teacher exalted for his doctoral thesis in the field of medical education
Jaime Antonio Álvarez Soler was recognized with an Honorary Thesis for book publication for his phenomenological historical analysis of medical training at the University of Cauca, as part of his research thesis at the Doctorate in Educational Sciences.
The doctoral thesis “Phenomenological study of medical training at the University of Cauca. Year 2013 to 2016 ”of the professor Jaime Antonio Álvarez Soler attached to the Department of Pathology of the Faculty of Health Sciences obtains Honorary Thesis for book publication. The Professor who advances doctoral studies in Education Sciences through the agreement of the State University Network of Colombia RUDECOLOMBIA, carried out the thesis in the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia UPTC in Tunja.
According to Professor Jaime Álvarez Soler, the objective of the research thesis is to describe the pedagogical and curricular practices of medical education at the University of Cauca through a phenomenological historical analysis. “The impact is the usefulness of this study as a tool for the curricular reform of the Medicine program. In addition to proposing a joint venture with the Specialization in Family Medicine and the strategy of primary health care, ”added the professor at the University of Cauca.
The thesis that also has a utility for intercultural training with indigenous and Afro-Colombian populations, obtained a rating of 4.7. “It is worthwhile because the phenomenological methodology is little used in medical education and in general in health sciences. The book to be published will be a hermeneutical phenomenological methodology for health science education, ”concluded the teacher.
