La Universidad -

Juan David Carvajal Cucuñame and María Paula Cabezas Charry, along with their thesis advisor, Professor Fulvio Yesid Vivas Cantero, presented the results of their research during the 11th International Week of Science, Technology, and Innovation (SICTEI).

Our project addresses patient safety and aims to improve the quality of care in the context of the Colombian pharmaceutical service, based on a qualitative research that identified key needs related to temperature and relative humidity monitoring during the medication storage phase.

In this way, the research article 'Specific Needs of the Colombian Pharmaceutical Service Related to Temperature and Relative Humidity Monitoring' was presented by students Juan David Carvajal Cucuñame and María Paula Cabezas Charry, who, together with their thesis advisor Professor Fulvio Yesid Vivas Cantero, participated as speakers at the 11th International Week of Science, Technology, and Innovation (SICTEI) held in the city of Cúcuta, Colombia.

The three members of the Embedded Systems Research Group (SISE), affiliated with the Telematics Engineering group, part of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications at the University of Cauca, were accepted on August 26 to participate as speakers and present their research article during the 8th Interinstitutional Research Seedbeds Meeting (EISI). This event was part of the 11th SICTEI, organized by the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander, and featured the participation of international experts.

Thus, on October 23, 2024, they successfully presented their paper in this space, which allowed them to share the results of research projects from various fields of knowledge, conducted by researchers and students.

'Through a research instrument we designed, we were able to collect the opinions of staff from different pharmaceutical services that are part of the Colombian pharmaceutical service, working in an interdisciplinary manner,' said Juan David Carvajal Cucuñame.

The results obtained from this process open new paths for the development of technological tools that support the improvement of processes to prevent medication errors and ensure proper patient health care.
